Microbiological Reporting System (MRS)
MRS is a Microbiological Reporting system for use in Hospital Quality Control Labs. It allows users to record and monitor microbiological results from clean rooms and cabinets. Users start by setting up the system with blue prints for each room. The blue prints consist of plate locations in a room, along with their type, and the warning and critical levels for each plate. The system is able to cope with multiple trust results and multiple rooms / cabinets on each site. Users can enter the results, along with the room users and exposure times from Settle Plates, Contact Plates and Finger Touch Plates. Once the data has been entered then the system automatically generates monthly reports, including graphs and exception reports if the results are out of range. Initially the system started life in 2006 as a bespoke system, it is now running live in 2 NHS Trusts, with future plans for new features and shared reporting via the internet.
This system has been closely developed between WJPS and a number of other Trusts and users. It is still a relatively new system but is already proving its time saving aspects. The main time saving is that results only need to be entered once, some in house QC Lab solutions require copying data from one place to another, but MRS stores everything in one place. The system can be networked to run across multiple PC's. Setup takes a matter of hours. Setting up rooms normally takes a couple of minutes each and once you start using the system the time saving will be almost instantaneous. WJPS are also able to provide full support, and installation for MRS.
